# Architecture (/docs/maintain/architecture)

How the site is put together: content sources, build steps, routes, integrations.

> **Living snapshots.** Edit in place so each file describes the system as it is right now. No
> revision tables, no "previously X, now Y" — delete what is no longer true
> ([ADR-0002](../adr/ADR-0002-living-design-documentation.mdx)).

## Conventions [#conventions]

- `system.mdx` is the primary document: what exists today.
- Per-area documents (`content-model.mdx`, `search.mdx`, `private-docs.mdx`, …) when one area needs its own picture.
- Describe only what exists. Direction belongs in a Proposed ADR.
